Summit County Serving Our Soldiers Ombudsman

As the Ombudsman for the Serving Our Soldiers (SOS) program, Tina must coordinate all USO, Veterans’ Service and other armed services related
activities for the County of Summit Executive’s Office.

The SOS project has an information hot line (877 767-6622) for the public to gain information on available services offered by the County of Summit.  Brochures, displays and public awareness campaigns are coordinated through the ombudsman and the SOS committee.  Giving opportunities and volunteer activities are coordinated to help area soldiers and veterans.

Key responsibilities of the SOS Ombudsman:

  • Coordinate project with the USO and Veterans groups
  • Create and maintain display with soldiers’ pictures
  • Gather and maintain names of active troops and manage deadline for care packages
  • September Stand Down for Homeless Vets
  • Set up and publicize toll free hotline (877 767-6622)
  • Start committee
  • Send flyer information to be produced
  • Christmas giving, collect donations, assemble and mail packages
  • Employers Support of the Guard and Reserves Lunch
  • Coordinate Executive signing of pledge to military employees
  • Honor Field Meeting
  • Set up booth and distribute county information
  • Coordinate Veterans’ Housing Brochure
  1. Meet with Executive’s Office and Council on information and layout
  2. Coordinate information between all parties
  3. Assemble and edit text
